I am a newbie contributor. What do you recommend?
Start by making 5 suggestions to 20 different orders each (100 suggestions total). Within 24 hours you'll get feedback on some of the orders. Work on those where you got one or more 'Likes'. If your rank grows from 5 to 4 or 3, you are on the right track. If you've submitted several hundred suggestions, but got no likes or picks, your naming skills are too low.
I want to use your service. Who will be the legal owner of the domain you come up with and will I have to pay you any royalties?
No, you don’t have pay us any royalties and you’ll be the sole owner of the domain. Ditto for names and slogans.
Does your fee include the cost of registering domain?
No. You’ll have to register domain on your own, using any registrar you want.
How many contributors do you have?
We have over 30000 registered contributors. A few hundred are active at any given time.
How many suggestions will my order receive?
It depends on your specifications, topic, etc. However, the average for the order is around 500 or so suggestions.
Can I ban contributors who make bad suggestions?
I want to become a contributor, but I am afraid your clients will steal my suggestions.
Our system tracks all suggestions each contributor made. At any time you can click ‘My Suggestions’ and see if any of your domains have been registered. We had only around 10 or 11 instances of theft out of 1500+ orders. So it’s a non-issue. Most people really do need a cool domain and $50 isn’t a huge sum worth risking a lawsuit for.
Some people claim that PickyDomains is a scam.
We've seen several online claims that we are a scam. Some are clearly competitors, because the next message is "but this site...", but others seem to be misinformed individuals. Our success rate for contributors is around 1-2%, so only 1 out of 100 or out of 50 makes a suggestion that is picked by a client. Competition is stiff. People think that if their suggestion has been picked, it means that something fishy is going on.
We do not allow contributors to use ANY suggestion software or services - like Name Boy, expired domain lists, etc. Many times when a client claims that we 'stole' something, we just enter 'stolen' domain and sure enough - it's on expired domain list (which means thousands of cybersquatters have access to it).
I’ve made suggestions to several orders and there is no reaction. How long to I have to wait?
This is up to each individual client. Some provide feedback almost immediately. Others do it once a week. Some never. Since most names are picked within a two week time period, we strongly suggest that you work on new orders first. Older orders aren’t checked as frequently.
What does [PromoOrder] means?
These are orders we do gratis for bloggers in exchange for free publicity.
I can’t receive PayPal payments in my country, can you help me?
We pay via PayPal only at this point.
Why can't I work on premium orders?
Your rank is too low. Only contributors ranked 1 through 4 are allowed to work on premium orders.
I picked .com domain name from your list. I also want to register the same name in other zones - .eu, .co.uk, etc. Do I have to pay you again for those domains?
